Memorial Day Weekend is a time to reflect on our many blessings and thank those who have contributed to that. That is especially true to thank our relatives who have done everything possible so that we can live in a country with so many freedoms. All are encouraged to thank all those wonderful and generous relatives.
Not to take away that special tribute, but we don’t have to look far to realize that our country and its businesses continue to struggle against many issues and concerns. It is hard for many to even turn on the daily news and listen to all that is happening everywhere. Shootings, various violent acts, medical costs that continue to escalate, the rising costs of employees’ benefits, the broadening of economic uncertainties, more risky acts affecting technology and data/cyber venues, the challenge of complying with changing laws, much less locating and retaining qualified talent. All of these concerns and more are putting businesses under terrible stress.
It is rather discouraging that our legislators are in daily conflict, wasting so much time and money on unproductive bickering. Meanwhile many issues that the public needs resolved receive NO attention. Did our legislators forget why they were selected to serve us? Furthermore, how many legislators are not even attending their sessions? Very discouraging!
The fact is while businesses have no control of many, if not most, of these situations, they are encouraged to mitigate what risks they can, and locate credible resources to help the businesses protect themselves as much as possible.
The other step is to develop a strong, strategic “disaster recovery plan” and choose a valid policy to minimize losses and protect business assets. Tapping into transition experts like Compass Career Management Solutions to research and create programs to position a business to be more productive and progressive is one of the best things any organization can do. Don’t wait for the “shoe to drop”. Act now to protect your business.
