The hiring process is a very old routine that companies and organizations tackled and used for centuries, and yet some of the original process is still being used.  Today we have one of the most diverse workforces in history, which is an asset and a challenge. The economy has made some improvements, though there are still many uncertainties.

Employers today speak of poor employee engagement, a difficulty finding people with the needed skills, issues involving poor communication, some industries have low retention, as well as a large number of employees who are expected to retire in the near future with few qualified replacements.  So what are ways to improve the hiring process in order to address these issues?

  1. Employee Engagement: What is your reputation and how can this be addressed?
  2. Locating Properly Skilled Candidates: Where are they or do they exist?
  3. Low Retention: Why are employees willing to leave a job while many struggle to find employment?  A BIG Flag!
  4. Replacement of Experienced Boomers: How long can companies wait to prepare replacements for these highly experienced employees?

Recruiting good qualified employees has been an ongoing challenge.  Human Resources Professionals complain about resumes and applications for specific positions from those who clearly lack the qualities noted in Job Descriptions.  How can this be addressed?  How do you attract those who are qualified?

What changes are needed in hiring procedures to find and retain “qualified candidates”?  What are these candidates seeking?  Is your hiring process out-of-date and ineffective?  Are your job descriptions current?  Each step of the hiring procedure should be reviewed to make whatever changes will benefit your company.  Are your leaders up to the challenge?
