The Core Trait Needed for Good Working Relationships

What is the most challenging area in regards to being a well-run and productive business?  Both employers and employees have commented that “GOOD COMMUNICATIONS” is probably at the top of the list.  When it comes to why this is the case, both sides of employment have given their perspectives.  Many employers say that the workforce does not verbalize or relay that there is a problem, though they may exchange such comments to their fellow employees in person or via texting or emails.  As for the employers’ perspective, they hear that the workforce’s comments tend to be that “their employers do not LISTEN to what they have to say.”  So are concerns and issues being expressed openly or not?

There often is an age discrepancy between employers and employees, which is noticed when it comes to technology.  Thus, each communicates differently.  Owners can be known to expect their workforce to express their issues and concerns verbally, verses employees may tend to communicate more via technology.  Still, the bottom line is both have trouble communicating with the other.  How can this be resolved?

One of the best approaches is to arrange a mediator – someone who can orchestrate a venue where both sides can share their perspectives and concerns, allowing the mediator to manage a fair exchange, interjecting suggestions and ideas that might address and resolve any differences.  Once the organization experiences a few of these exchanges, there can be a platform or model to use for any future differences or discussions.

Good communication is vital to a healthy, productive organization.  Other times when using a mediator or professional coach can be useful and effective is when major changes are needed, and the two sides of the organization value someone to help arrange or manage the event/process.  Including a “professional” through a business event helps both sides to feel that they are being respected and supported.  Such an organization is Compass Career Management Solutions.  This requires being recognized as a credible professional firm with high integrity.  Again, “Good Communications” is considered a core necessity to a business.
